Three Studies of Lucian Freud” is a 1969 oil-on-canvas triptych depicting artist Lucian Freud. Each canvas measures (78″ × 58″). It was sold in November 2013 at Christies, New York, for a staggering $142.4 million!

Between 1998 and 2001 the entire studio of Francis Bacon was dismantled piece by piece and reassembled at the Hugh Lane Gallery in Dublin.

Paddy Darigan was born in Co. Wexford, the youngest son of a blacksmith. A self taught artist he had his first solo exhibition in 1983. He works from life and is a founder member of Wexford Life Drawing Group and a member of Waterford Live Art. Public art commissions include a large mural at Wexford General Hospital and art on milk cartons for Waterford Foods Ireland. He worked as Community Artist for Wexford Arts Centre 1994/1995.

Mary Fitzgerald is an Irish artist who lives and works in Dublin and County Waterford.

She studied Fine Art at Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology and received an Honours Degree in Fine Art from The National College of Art and Design (NCAD). She completed a Master’s Degree of Fine Art at NCAD in 2004, and is currently a lecturer in the department of Core Studies at that university. She was elected a member of Aosdána in 1990.

Martin, Fergus

Fergus Martin was born in Cork, Ireland.  He studied painting at Dun Laoghaire School of Art from 1972 – 1976.  From 1979 – 1988 he lived and worked in Italy, where he lectured in English Language at The University of Milan.

In 1988, he returned to painting and had his first solo exhibition at Oliver Dowling Gallery, Dublin, in 1990.  In 1991, he attended The New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture.  He received awards from The Pollock Krasner Foundation, New York, in 1999 and 2006, and was awarded The Marten Toonder Award  by The Arts Council/An Comhairle Ealaion in 1999. In 2001, he was elected to Aosdana.

Whisker, Charlie (1950)

Charlie Whisker was born in 1950 in Bangor, County Down. He is a graduate of the Belfast College of Art and spent time teaching painting at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin between 1981 and 1987. Whisker took part in both the 1985 and the 1987 Irish Exhibition of Living Art as well as the 1988 New Irish Art, North and South exhibition, which saw his work travel to New York. In 1994 he left NCAD for Los Angeles where he spent ten years working as a music video director.
